Dr. Alfred Hughes,
originally from Charleston, South Carolina, completed his
undergraduate degree at Georgia State University and his
graduate work at the California School of Professional
Psychology. He then completed an APA accredited forensic
psychology pre-doctoral internship at St. Elizabeth's
Hospital in Washington, DC. Finally, he completed his
postdoctoral fellowship at Positive Outcomes Psychological
Services in Athens, GA. He has over 13 years of experience
working with various aspects of family violence, and
has worked in conjunction with the Gwinnett County Police
Department providing crisis intervention services to victims
of domestic violence. He has worked with local, county, and
state associations toward the goal of ending violence
against women. Dr. Hughes has been employed by the state of
Nevada to conduct program evaluation and compliance reviews
on all of the state certified Domestic Violence Intervention
Programs across the state. Dr. Hughes presently has a
thriving clinical psychology practice in Athens, GA. He
conducts child, adolescent, and adult psychological
assessments. Dr. Hughes also provides play therapy for
children and psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. He is
presently a member of the Georgia Psychological Association
and the American Psychological Association.
